The premiere of John Neumeier’s Liliom in Chicago heralded the 2026 to 2027 season of The Joffrey Ballet on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Lyric Opera House.

The power of love and devotion has been explored as a theme in many of our favorite stories and musicals; however, perhaps one of the most impactful and cherished of this contemporary time is The Notebook and the hopelessly romantic characters of Allie and Noah. Through some endearing ballads, you get a heartwarming retelling—which is three-time Tony Award-nominated and is now playing at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago from Wednesday, August 5 to Sunday, August 16

The small, historical, and quaint Athenaeum theater was the perfect venue for this production. Its intimate setting allowed for perfect acoustics, ensuring that every lyric, every note, and every emotional nuance reached the audience with clarity and impact.

This place delivers serious “main character energy.” Our balcony rooms had skyline views that demanded a slow coffee and a selfie.
