2023 remounting of the Yuri Possokhov ballet adaptation of the classic novel
The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago is bringing audiences the captivating, classic Leo Tolstoy story, Anna Karenina, to life this February 15-26, 2023.
The piece, adapted to the stage by Yuri Possokhov, originally premiered in 2019, winning the 2019 “Oscars of Dance” Benois de la Danse International Prize for Best Choreography. The story consists of a love affair amidst political and social turmoil in the 19th century between Anna and Count Vronsky.
The composition is by award-winning composer Ilya Demutsky, the costumes and sets are by Emmy Award-winning designer Tom Pye, and lighting is by famed designer David Finn.
Round Trip with Colleen Kelly talked in depth with the Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet Ashley Wheater MBE in a recent WLS-AM 890 Chicago radio episode.
